Monday, March 31

Jack has been home and doing very well with his recovery. He's had a string of visitors helping him, including Sandy, Janet, Helene, Tuvia, Esti, Nick, Cathy, Robert, Doug, Nancy, and others!

Today, Myra returns home and continues her rehab in the comforts of her own domain! Myra and Jack reunited! Whew! Thanks to Donald for escorting her back! More to follow.

Thursday, March 20

Whew! 10 days since I last reported. What busy lives we lead. Doug and Nancy and Greg went to visit last weekend and Cathy is coming into town this weekend.

Jack update

Jack was a great rehab patient and was released from the hospital on Tuesday, March 18. He is back home and resting comfortably. He is reading through all his get well cards and thanks everyone for the good wishes. Jack will have a therapist come to the apartment three days a week. Cathy will be down tonight to stay with him through the weekend. Our warmest thanks to Sandy for bringing Jack home on Tuesday and staying with him overnight, and to Janet for spending Wednesday and Thursday with him. We're trying to have someone at the apartment at all times until Myra comes home, so if you are taking a trip to Manhattan and want to stay overnight in a beautiful mid-town apartment for FREE, please give Jack a call.

Myra update

Myra continues to recover. She got to take a trip outside the hospital last week to see her surgeon. He was able to remove the surgical stitches (12!) and the x-rays show she is doing great. She wants to thank everyone for the wonderful, cheery, thoughtful get well cards, and Rhoda for the beautiful tulips, Cynthia and Ed for the hyacinths, and the book club for the fabulous orchid. They really cheer up the room. The rehab exercises are fine although a little tiring. Myra reports that she went to the beauty parlor in the building and got her hair washed and cut. She hopes to be back home April 10th.

Monday, March 10

Myra reports that she is continuing to do well with her therapy and she is in very little pain. She sees her surgeon this Thursday for a post-op checkup.

On the cultural front, Myra introduced two of her therapists who both have an art background and they are all going to get together to talk about the great Masters. And on the gossip front, Eliot Spitzer made for quite a lot of conversation today!

She thanks everyone for their wonderful good wishes for her and Jack's recovery.

Doug and Nancy are going to be in town this weekend.

Jack is continuing to do well with his rehab. He is walking more. They keep him active pretty much all day. Jack would enjoy having visitors in the late afternoon if anyone is free to do so. If you are planning to see him, we would greatly appreciate if you would call ahead and ask him if there's anything he may need from Duane Reade (there's one on the corner - go figure). Thank you.

Friday, March 7

Myra reports that her therapist was an art major in college, so between arm lifts and finger wiggles, they have been talking about favorite artists.

Also, her therapist has a friend who went to Israel to find a therapy job but only speaks English and is having a hard time. As it so happens, Tuvia knows of a rehab in Jerusalem that only speaks English so they traded information so he could help Myra's therapist's friend get a job. So Myra!

Cathy is coming to town this weekend.

Myra's roommate is going home today. Let's hope she gets another wonderful roommate.

Jack is continuing his hip therapy and has gotten in and out of bed a few times on his own.

Tuesday, March 4

Myra moves into her rehab hospital on the Upper West Side. She is concentrating very hard on getting better and asks that, instead of visits and phone calls that we all just think great thoughts for her recovery.

She has a lovely roommate whose husband is very attentive to his own wife and to Myra.

Tuvia came to town from Israel and is keeping an eye on everything.

Jack has started his walking therapy and appears to be doing fine.
