Report From Myra

Dear Nevele Group

Those of you who couldn't make this years Chanukah get together missed a great celebration. We missed you and hope that next year you all can join in the merriment. This year we had Myra and Jack, Cathy, Danny and Nicholas, Doug and Nancy, Matthew, Ronnie, Alix and girlfriend Kristin, Eliza, and Donald.

Cathy was the Chanukah Claus. She and Nicholas rigged up the computer so that all of us in the living room could see the screen. We heard the music, saw Hilary on the computer and then, to our amazement in came Hilary, in person (Cathy wore the mask and had on the pearls and jacket) .She sounded just like Hilary.

New gift concept — each person brought a wrapped (recycled) gift and put it on the dining room table. Then we reached into the basket and pulled out a number and in order, 1 to 13 — got to choose a gift. You could keep the gift you chose or take the gift that a previous person chose. We all had a lot of fun exchanging and getting the stories of each object. I think that the most popular was Nicks tie that simulated snakeskin! But I got a book (Ronnie's contribution of 4 books) that I have been anxious to read. Cathy brought a picnic basket filled with the mixings for tequila. Alix chose and held on to a hot chocolate mixer. All the gifts were beautifully wrapped and were useful and/ or beautiful.

The food was plentiful but we all missed The Nevele. Doug missed Carlos bringing in the Jello. We missed Morris Katz and his oil painting — but talking about art Doug and Nancy went to MoMA to see the Seurat drawing show.

Cathy and Danny and Nancy and Doug went to see the gorgeous Bergdorf Goodman windows instead of viewing the Nevele gift shop. We toasted Cathy (55) and Danny (58) and sang Happy Birthday.

An activity was going through all my photo albums from 1977 on tracking down all the Chanukah Clauses through the years. It was fun seeing everyone. Don't you think that we all look the same!

Robert joined us for Saturday brunch and Esti joined us on Sunday. Then Esti was off to Israel to be with Tuvia and the family. Robert was busy all weekend directing his Senior production of William Finn's "In Trousers."

If all of you had been there it would have been perfect. We will always miss Herb. What is Chanukah without him!
