William Finn Revue Make Me a Song Headed to New World Stages

Make Me a Song, a revue of the work of theater composer William Finn, is headed for off-Broadway's New World Stages this fall, according to Variety. The show, which was first performed at TheaterWorks in Hartford, Connecticut, last year, will begin previews on October 30 and open on November 12.

Conceived and directed by Rob Ruggiero, Make Me a Song had announced an April 2007 opening at the Zipper Theater, which was cancelled due to unspecified scheduling difficulties. The original Hartford cast included Sandy Binion, Joe Cassidy, Adam Heller and Sally Wilfert with John DiPinto at the piano, all of whom had signed on for the aborted spring 2007 staging of the show. No casting has been announced for the New World Stages production.

Make Me a Song includes 30 numbers mixing original compositions by Finn with songs from such shows as the current Broadway hit The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Falsettos, A New Brain, Elegies, Romance in Hard Times and the as-yet unproduced The Royal Family.

The show will be produced off-Broadway by Junkyard Productions and Larry Hirschhorn in association with Jayson Raitt.
